Regional Cancer Center has been bringing expert cancer care close to home for patients in the northwestern Pennsylvania region since 1987 and is affiliated with UPMC Cancer Centers, one of the largest integrated community networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country. Regional Cancer Center’s working relationship with UPMC Cancer Centers facilitates an exchange of information to integrate our community cancer center with the resources of one of the top academic programs in the country, collaborating to bring comprehensive and state-of-the-art treatment innovations and services to our patients.

Dietician, Part Time

Position Description: Implement/provide appropriate nutritional care into the patient’s total treatment plan following established policies and procedures; work with RCC physicians and allied health staff in overall nutritional programs; provide nutrition education services to physicians, health professionals, students, and the community.

Medical Coding Specialist:

Position Description: Accurately assigns ICD-10 diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance to the American Hospital Association and assigns Evaluation and Management Coding Levels in accordance American Medical Association and Coding Guidelines. Codes RCC consultation/new patient visits and hospital consultations/initial hospital visits bone marrow biopsy procedures and coding requests meeting coding deadlines. Serves as a coding resource for The Regional Cancer Center providers and staff.

Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma required. Graduate of Coding Program or Certified Professional Coder preferred or attained within one year of RCC employment. A minimum of 2 years outpatient coding or auditing experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills necessary/ ability to coach and train physicians and staff in one-on-one or in group settings. Computer proficiency in Excel, WORD and keyboard.

Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods at a time; ability to read and interpret electronic medical record reports; enter correct codes into the Electronic Medical Record.

Medical Assistant

Position Description: As a member of the Physician Care Team, performs selected patient care duties in the care of the oncology patient under the direction of a licensed professional nurse or a licensed physician which do not require the specialized skill, judgment and knowledge required in professional nursing. Pull charts and insures all required information is available to insure efficient and effective use of time. Assist nurses as required. Prepare and re-stock supplies for treatment rooms.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical Assistant certification or degree, or BS degree from an accredited college/university in a medically focused program. A minimum of two years prior experience working in a healthcare facility, preferably a doctor’s office or clinic.

Job Knowledge: Must have good interpersonal skills to interface with patient’s family members and staff members. Must be proficient in taking vital signs and gathering other pertinent medical data from patients. Requires good telephone skills as well as ability to enter data properly in the computer system for variety of purposes.

Medical Oncology Practice RN

Position Description: The Medical Oncology Practice Nurse has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The Medical Oncology Practice Nurse works with the Physician to apply competent clinical knowledge and skills to achieve quality care outcomes for the medical oncology patients and, provides education and emotional support to patients/family; collaborates with RCC staff members and other health care providers to facilitate comprehensive health care services.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and possess current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. At least 6 years of acute care or 3 years of oncology experience, preferred.

Job Knowledge: A caring, empathetic, understanding personality. Ability to work and interface with all types of people. Excellent organizational skills and excellent phone skills. Knowledge of current oncological practices and chemotherapy drugs is preferred.
