The Regional Cancer Center’s working relationship with UPMC Cancer Centers facilitates an exchange of information to integrate our community cancer center with the resources of one of the top academic programs in the country, collaborating to bring comprehensive and state-of-the-art treatment innovations and services to our patients.

Medical Physicist


Position Summary

Full-time Medical Physicist position is immediately available at The Regional Cancer Center (TRCC) in Erie, PA. This person will join two physicists and three dosimetrists in the progressive, technologically advanced cancer center. Successful candidate is expected to function independently and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Primary responsibilities for this position include quality assurance testing and dosimetry calibration of radiation therapy equipment, dosimetry and clinical implementation of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS, SBRT), and various types of brachytherapy procedures. Active participation in clinical and developmental research projects is encouraged. EEO

Heath Information Management Clerk


Basic Function

Analyzes and processes patient record for clinic appointments; reviews patient orders to assure all ordered reports are electronically filed into patient’s record; electronically retrieves patient records internally and/or externally; scans and e-files paper records into the electronic medical record. Comprehends release of information policies and releases patient information per policy. Works collaboratively with clinical staff, physicians and support departments assuring patient information is readily available for all patient visits. EOE.

Student Medical Oncology Intern – Summer 2014


Position Summary

Medical Oncology Interns will work as Medical Assistants, helping prepare patients for appointments by gathering information, taking vital signs, pulling records from the electronic medical record system, and assisting nurses as needed.

Student Health Information Management (HIM) Intern – Summer 2014


Position Summary

The HIM Intern will work in the HIM department, acting as the courier to retrieve PHI paper documents generated within RCC departments to be filed, scanning and indexing paper and electronically faxed documents, distributing US Postal Mail to HIM department and the RCC Villa offices, assisting HIM clerks and coder with printing information, entering data into spreadsheets for statistics and assisting Transcriptionists with misc. duties.

Student Policy and Procedure Intern – Summer 2014


Position Summary

The Policies and Procedure Intern will do a comprehensive review of RCC policies and procedures. Policies will be reviewed for accuracy, relevancy and redundancy. Intern will work with department managers and support staff to appropriately revise polices to ensure relevancy and regulatory compliance. Intern will need to possess general understanding of health care practices and well as Microsoft Office programs. Intern will work independently toward goals and will need to develop project timeline and milestones.

Art Therapy Intern


Position Summary

The Art Therapy Intern will support RCC’s Wellness for Life Program by developing and implementing art therapy activities for patients, caregivers and survivors. Intern should be enrolled in an Art Therapy program and possess excellent interaction skills so as to engage their audience appropriately. Intern will be responsible for managing supplies and projects.

Student Laboratory Intern – Summer 2014


Position Summary

Laboratory Interns will work in the Lab, drawing and/or processing blood, urine and other patient samples for testing and transport to a reference Lab, enter Lab orders into the computer, assist in updating the RCC MSDS book, and assist Laboratory staff as needed.
